Copenhagen silver linings?
1- I was pretty disappointed with how the Copenhagen climate talks went down. 2-I am upset about the reactions to Obama (bringing a little doubt to my understanding of him) 3- I am disappointed with the negligence and selfishness of each individual on behalf of our planet as a whole. I just don’t understand how there is not more urgency in these matters. 4- I am also upset about Sarah...

Benjamin Ducroz, Press +
I think this could be true love. This artist made this beautiful animation by making a 3d rendering, printing out the frames and then treating the print outs with watercolor and ink textures. The colors are eye catching yet rich and the shapes are literally explosive. Totally made my day.

Recession tales, part two
Hold that thought about living in my parents house…. NJ was hit too, and apparently all of the arts organizations and museums were promised money in June are on hold. Article here. I guess we will be seeing quite a few more benefit auctions. Though as Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction reported, the Space 1026 auction this year (even with a Shepard Fairey print…) was a...

Recession rejection, and other tales
The recession strikes again! Continuing to smother my hopes and dreams. That about says it all. What a bummer. It was almost worst than not getting the grant flat out, because this was just plain depressing. I was so excited- more so than I have been in ages to see a letter coming from them (think about it: I applied all the way back in August and the decisions typically come out in January). And...

Cai Guo-Qiang at the PMA
So yesterday Jack and I rushed over to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the temporary piece by Cai Guo-Qiang (an artist who works almost entirely with fireworks or taxidermy, almost everyone saw his firework display at the 2008 Bejing Olympics). He has a show going on at the Fabric Workshop Museum right now which I have been itching to get over to. His 2D pieces, typically the burnings of...

Why the internet sucks (is this new?)
As someone who would like to share my images as openly and freely as possible on the internet, I came across something really disillusioning and upsetting this morning. Being a book-geek and library-lover a friend e-mailed me a link to “the most beautiful libraries in the world.” Unfortunately, I had already seen not only these libraries, but the exact photos of these libraries before....

This saturday
(Tomaselli, “Guilty” collage on newspaper) One of my thesis advisors from Princeton, John O’Connor, is giving a talk at the New Museum this weekend with Fred Tomaselli. Part of a Skowhegan talk series. I love both of their work, all of their patterns, and most importantly John is a great guy. I would definitely be interested in hearing how their practices, patterns, and...

the art blog!
Oh goodie! One of my most favorite weekly (trust me, that is about as close to religious as I get) reads- the artblog.org (specifically the lovely Libby Rosof) reviewed my show at the Green Line Cafe. I cannot say enough about how wonderful I think Libby and Roberta are for keeping art criticism alive and well in our city of Philadelphia. But I will let their little blurb do the talking… but...
